I have personally seen Pedersoli rolling blocks that have not been correctly hardened and the block and hammer have peened. The problem is that there has been a lot of different quality over the years, (and probably still some variance today) and "match grade" is an undefined term mostly dreamed up by marketers. This is a lot more complex than just a "all italian rifles are junk" or "pedersoli barrels are match grade!". I have heard that Pedersoli is the best of the Italian makers. This can cause all sorts of issues ranging from chips (not scratches) in the metal, to parts breaking easily to where the gun will not operate or explode. I have heard many many reports (aside from my own experiences) of Italian gun makers using soft metal that is not treated right. I have to say that the cap and ball was made better than the Uberti, but neither were all that great. I haven't had an Italian rolling block, but I have had a cap and ball pistol and a Uberti Cattleman. So if you already have a Italian rolling block, what was the point of this post? Is it because you are unsatisfied with it, or you are looking to add and American made one? Well, i'll be darned! i learn something new and important every day, thank you, sir! i'm gonna sell my Eye-talian spaghetti roller asap!!! shooter pulled trigger & hammer fell normal.but due to that stuck pin.ctg.

Seems the repro had far too much clearance between block & hammer face.on original Remingtons as soon as hammer drops.block is prevented from opening. It's been awhile, but there was a write up in either the Journal or Single Shot Exchange about an accident with an Italian roller.
